"A Home for Community Homes"
are so important to us, it is even part of our name! For the past 25 years, we
have put all our funding into homes for adults with intellectual and
developmental disabilities, enabling them to live rich, full lives in the
admin staff has worked remotely for years. That has saved the organization
money and provided flexibility for our team. But as we have grown, we need a
professional, accessible place to meet with families, interview care providers,
hold staff and board meetings, and store office and meeting supplies. A “Home
for Community Homes” means that we have a consistent, private and welcoming
space to work when remote telecommuting can’t fill the bill.
In 2019, we will be working as a team to ensure we have the best policies and
procedures in place for future growth, and office space is the first step in
setting those plans in motion. With our goal of
raising $15,000 for the 2019 LOVE Campaign, these funds will cover rental and
associated costs for one year.
Also, this year we encourage recurring gifts. Contact Helene Wentink at 425-233-6930 or Helene@community-homes.org to learn more.
I've had the privilege of leading this organization for the past 10 years. During that time we've doubled the number of residents we serve; we've expanded our annual outreach to more than 200 families; and we've helped change laws that enable the creation of more affordable housing.
These efforts are greatly enhanced by office space, giving us regular opportunities to collaborate and coordinate our services. While we do miss our double tall lattes at the local Starbucks, we feel the privacy of an office improves the confidentiality of our conversations with families:-)
Thank you so much for your support of these wonderful young adults!!!!!!!
